Announcing Viira Cloud Sync, Web Interface

Filed under: Viira, cloud — admin @ 5:10 pm

Here at the Viira team we always strive to make it easier for you to get things done and stay on top of your commitments by leveraging the power of technology. That’s why we are all very excited to be making this announcement which will transform the way you stay organized and use Viira in your day-to-day life.

Over the coming months during this fall you will see Viira’s functionality supplemented by the cloud in order to make it even easier for you to stay organized from anywhere and access Viira from more places, platforms and contexts. Here is what’s coming next:

Viira Cloud Sync

Securely back up and sync your Viira data to the cloud and never fear loosing your data because your BlackBerry/Android device got lost, stolen or broken down - or just because you forgot to extract all your data before trading in your smartphone for a newer model. The Viira Cloud Sync will take care of all this for you automatically.

With the Viira Cloud Sync you can also seamlessly keep your Viira data in sync across different platforms, for example if you are switching between Android and a BlackBerry. Support for more smartphone platforms is also just around the corner.

Viira Web Interface

Access your Viira data from anywhere via the web. When you smartphone is not the best or most convenient option quickly access your projects, contexts, tasks and priorities over the web from anywhere - be it your PC, Mac or tablet device.

We will provide more details and screenshots as our engineering efforts progress. Stay tuned!

  1. Will everything be encrypted using our own key before being transferred to your cloud, thus preventing your staff from having access to our company data?

  2. Ofutur, your personal data will be safely stored and fully protected with Viira cloud sync solution. I am not allowed to divulge technical details at this point but rest assured that data protection and privacy is #1 on our priority list.

  3. Sounds like a great feature. I’m looking forward to it. When is it coming?

  4. Hi Kevin,

We don’t have an ETA for the cloud sync service at this point but we are aiming to start rolling it out by early next year. Stay tuned!

  5. Next year? Ugh. So much for “this fall.” This is killing me! Please hurry, but not so much as to release a bad service.

  6. Any update on timing? This is the one thing I would most like to see out of Viira and the one thing I could consider leaving Viira for, which I otherwise love. Desktop backup is far too cumbersome to be done with the frequency that heavy use warrants.

  7. Hi Daniel,

We know the regular backup via the BlackBerry Desktop Software is a bit cumbersome, and we will provide relief in the next month or so. You should see an improved way to move your data to a new/replacement device in the next software update.

The cloud and backup server is coming shortly and we will also provide a mechanism to export your data to your SD card. Which one will be here first I cannot confirm at this point - but help is on the way, and will be here shortly! :-)

  8. We’re fast approaching one year since this original announcement and over 4 months since the last “update” yet none of this is available. What gives? SD export wasn’t even a part of this discussion and is certainly no replacement for Cloud Sync/Web Interface. For that matter, I may not have any need of SD export to transfer data to a new device because I will be moving on to another app if this functionality is not available at my next renewal (or sooner).

  9. Hi John,

Work on the cloud sync is going strong, we did get a little distracted earlier this year but cloud sync is our top priority right now. Our goal is to have a beta available sometime this August then followed by full availability in the days after Labor Day long weekend.

We are actually just about to put up the sign-up form for people who would like to participate in the beta - would you be interested?
