Viira Outlook Add-In, PC App Hotfix 5.4.3 released

Filed under: Viira Desktop Client, Viira Outlook Suite, Viira Sync, cloud — admin @ 7:14 am

Over the last week we rolled out a couple of important/significant fixes to the Viira Sync product and we would like to announce it to everyone  The fixes affect the Viira Outlook Add-In and PC App and are available in version 5.4.3.

Here is what the fix addresses:

  1. In certain European locales (Germany, Slovenia and others) the Viira Outlook Add-In and the Viira PC App did not transmit task dates correctly because the Windows environment was overriding the Viira date encoding. This resulted in day tasks having incorrect dates when transmitted via the Viira Sync service and synced to Viira on BlackBerry 10. Tasks with due dates in the future appeared incorrectly as overdue.
  2. On some computers the Viira Outlook Add-In trial appears to end even though the Add-In is run the first time. Restarting the Outlook Add-In or installing the 5.4.3 update will fix this.

The latest version 5.4.3 fixes both issues and can be downloaded from the Viira downloads page.

Cloud Sync Service: Beta Coming Up!

Filed under: Viira, cloud, getting things done, gtd — admin @ 2:25 am

We are very excited to share with you that our cloud sync service beta launch is just around the corner!

Months and months of work are starting to show some very promising results and the preliminary prototypes are looking good and holding up well under testing. If all goes well we will start rolling out the beta version of the service about a month or two from now - hopefully by the end of August/early September timeframe.

The goal of our cloud sync service is to enable a seamless, synchronized organizational experience across platforms so that you can access and interact with your GTD data with ease from all your devices. Each rich client, be it BlackBerry (Viira 4), Outlook, Android, Playbook, desktop, web and even iOS will provide the same capabilities, power and simplicity that you have grown accustomed to with Viira 4, and the cloud service will make sure you have uniform access to your data from wherever you are.

So if you haven’t done so already, make sure to sign up on our announcements form and we will let you know as soon as we start rolling out the sync service across the various platforms.

The launch of the sync service will be gradual. We will add platform support one by one, starting with BlackBerry, Outlook, Android and the Playbook (our current supported platforms) and continuing with a web client, a desktop client and iOS support over the coming months. It will be very exciting few months ahead and we look forward to bring you the most intuitive, powerful and cross-platform GTD experience out there!

We will also need the help of a lot of beta testers so if you would like to help and are comfortable with beta software please let us know either by dropping us a note at support _at_ kartamobile.com or by signing up on our announcements list.

That’s why we are all very excited to be making this announcement which will transform the way you stay organized and use Viira in your day-to-day life.

Over the coming months during this fall you will see Viira’s functionality supplemented by the cloud in order to make it even easier for you to stay organized from anywhere and access Viira from more places, platforms and contexts. Here is what’s coming next:

Viira Cloud Sync

Securely back up and sync your Viira data to the cloud and never fear loosing your data because your BlackBerry/Android device got lost, stolen or broken down - or just because you forgot to extract all your data before trading in your smartphone for a newer model. The Viira Cloud Sync will take care of all this for you automatically.

With the Viira Cloud Sync you can also seamlessly keep your Viira data in sync across different platforms, for example if you are switching between Android and a BlackBerry. Support for more smartphone platforms is also just around the corner.

Viira Web Interface

Access your Viira data from anywhere via the web. When you smartphone is not the best or most convenient option quickly access your projects, contexts, tasks and priorities over the web from anywhere - be it your PC, Mac or tablet device.

We will provide more details and screenshots as our engineering efforts progress. Stay tuned!
